This question is increasingly becoming the subject of political and scientific discussions. The present paper elucidates the appropriate handling of distributed knowledge as a prerequisite for a sustainable shaping of information society. It is shown that online mediation (computer-supported mediation) might be an appropriate tool of knowledge and conflict management for the emerging digital administration.
