The EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is the only EMS which provides for a verified environmental statement and aims at informing the public about the environmental performance although the possibilities of EMAS for environmental communication are still rather under-utilised. The studies showed that there is a positive effect on the environmental performance of the participants, although it can hardly be quantified. We also found a common lack of a solid and functional methodology in most of the evaluation-studies.EMAS – An Instrument for Environmental Communication (Examining EMS- evaluation Studies)Text/Conference Paper
