The reuse of corresponding artefacts has been researched and practiced for almost 40 years. Yet, with the growing adoption of component- and platform-based information systems, a current review of how we view and conduct reuse in Business Process Automation becomes necessary. The advent of citizen developers further increases the need for a consolidated overview of the knowledge on reuse. As citizen developers are not trained to conduct reuse, guidance on how to harness the potential of reuse is needed. Based on a literature review, we identify four main layers on which process automation artefacts are reused and list ex- emplary technologies and methodologies. In addition, we systematize nine characteristics of reused automation artefacts and nine characteristics that describe a concrete instance of reuse. Finally, we provide a research agenda.enAutomation ReuseBusiness Process AutomationLiterature ReviewProcess ReuseReuse LayersCitizen DeveloperThe Reuse of Business Process Automation ArtefactsText/Conference Paper10.18420/inf2023_1931617-5468
