ANFAS is a decision support system that can be used by decision makers and stakeholders to simulate river floods and perform “what-if” scenarios. It is a web based distributed system that integrates the GIS databases, the mathematical models and the impact assessment methodologies. Both 1-D and 2-D models are included in the system and the interface between models and databases is done in a transparent way. The system includes extensive facilities that permit users to visualize the results on the web and/on their own personal computers. The system is presently applied in three pilot sites; the Vah River in Slovakia, the Loire River in France and the Yangtze River in China.ANFAS: A Decision Support System for Simulating River FloodsText/Conference Paper
