The acquisition of high quality profile data in general is expensive. The results of a survey among users of profile data in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany show that digital profile data are not managed uniquely. Due to this fact data loss may easily result. In addition it is very difficult to provide interoperability services for these profile data. Against this background the Ministry of Environment and Traffic of the state of BadenWuerttemberg has contracted the Research Institute for Applied Knowledge Processing at the University of Ulm to design an information system for storing, retrieving and handling profile data. The latter is subject to this paper.A GIS-based Information System for Managing and Analysing Profile Information for the Use in the Water Management Authorities within the State of Baden-WürttembergText/Conference Paper
