The environmental commitment also plays an important role, as well as the social orientation of an enterprise. Ideally companies should act economically in a way, that subsequent generations can satisfy their needs in the same dimensions as today’s generation, with a permanent profitable, environmentally friendly growth. As companies are confronted with external demands, from stakeholder to NGOs or the public interest, their internal activity has to change the existing behavior to a more sustainable oriented economy. Beside traditional optimizations, focusing on production-optimization or less material usage, many of the activities a company can perform are heavy dependent on the usage of IT-Tools and a hard information layer.
