Therefore, the nature protection administration in the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate relaunched a project to completely rebuild their landscape information system. The modelling is based on feature catalogues formally modelled as UML diagrams (Enterprise Architect Models). Web apps, build automatically from the application scheme (using the ISO 19xxx standards), contribute to a platform for the management of the geodata in a distributed and heterogeneous environment. The presentation highlights a practical overview of the components, how administrative geodata will be managed with the help of “open source” software in the near future.
