The catalogue addresses both the public and the specialist wanting to search for biosafety related data and information. The application does not intend to store the data within the system, rather it is a metadatabase that allows the user to access real data through a simple link. The CH-BCH has been developed entirely with open source technology. The pilot phase of the CH-BCH is fully operational since September 11, 2003, and has been recently made interoperable with the central portal, with regular updating of information.Information sharing on the safe transfer, handling and use of living modified organisms resulting from modern biotechnology: the Swiss Biosafety ClearingHouse (CH-BCH) web siteText/Conference Paper
