Frank, Ulrich2017-08-282017-08-282014Enterprise modelling is at the core of Information Systems and has been a subject of intensive research for about two decades. While the current state of the art shows signs of modest maturity, research is still facing substantial challenges. On the one hand, they relate to shortcomings of our current knowledge. On the other hand, they are related to opportunities of enterprise modelling that have not been sufficiently addressed so far. This paper presents a personal view of future research on enterprise modelling. It includes requests for solving underestimated problems and proposes additional topics that promise to promote enterprise models as more versatile tools for collaborative problem solving.
