This can lead to incompatabilities and thus to a reduced system efficiency. A strategic reorientation of software deployment within the area of environmental management requires the definition of a system platform, that provides an integrated system infrastructure based on software components. The objective of this article is to describe such a component system, with which slim web-based applications or tools for environmental management can be developed. An important step to achieve this objective is to find and define suitable objects for environmental management. These Ecological Objects (EcOObjects) have to be implemented as an open standard. A first prototype of a tool which is based on EcOObjects that represents aspects of an environmental performance indicator system presented here.Web-based Tools for the Environmental Performance IndicatorText/Conference Paper
