- KonferenzbeitragTrust and quality in electronic communication: Getting to know your customers bit by bit(Informatik 2005 – Informatik Live! Band 2, 2005) Neus, Andreas; Scherf, Philipp; Gebert, ChristianA client was experiencing trust and information quality problems in his structured Internet communication with potential and existing customers. Customer information entered online was typically of very poor quality and a lot of effort had to be exerted to cleanse the data before it incurred costs (such as printing and sending physical mail, etc.). Additionally, the interaction with clients, both on the portal and through the newsletter, was such that there was a high risk to the trust in the client's brand. We were asked to redesign the whole Internet-based interaction processes with his prospective and existing customers. This paper is a case study of how we changed the way this client communicated and thereby achieved better information quality, less irrelevant information and higher levels of trust.
- KonferenzbeitragThe role of semantic locations for mobile information access(Informatik 2005 – Informatik Live! Band 2, 2005) Roth, JörgThe concept of symbolic or semantic locations significantly simplifies the development of several applications that access location information in mobile scenarios. This paper motivates the idea of semantic locations and presents the Nimbus framework, which was designed and realized to support developers of location-based applications and services. Nimbus considers the requirements of clients in mobile environments. It is based on a decentralized and self-organizing runtime infrastructure and thus highly scalable and accessible for mobile users.
- KonferenzbeitragToward a reuse of product related concepts for service data management – An ontology approach(Informatik 2005 – Informatik Live! Band 2, 2005) Schermann, Michael; Böhmann, Tilo; Krcmar, HelmutWith a growing customization, automation and standardisation of IT services a systematic management of data on IT services becomes a pressing issue for researchers and practitioners alike. We propose Service Data Management as a cross-functional data view on services and their delivery. To this end we develop a first draft of an ontological model of common concepts of IT services. For simple IT services, established standards from the world of physical products may be surprisingly useful in the domain of service management.
- KonferenzbeitragQuality of service for MANETs connected to the Internet(Informatik 2005 – Informatik Live! Band 2, 2005) Kassler, Andreas J.; ShanShan, ChenAd-Hoc networks are flexible, adapt to topology changes due to mobility of nodes, and can de deployed where network infrastructure is not available. Research has been done mainly in the area of routing and for isolated Ad-Hoc networks. Some efforts are on the way to connect Ad-Hoc networks to the internet. It is however important to support QoS aware multimedia applications in this environment. A QoS architecture for Ad-Hoc networks is necessary that interworks with infrastructure based QoS approaches. Our approach extends SWAN and provides QoS support for communication between Ad-Hoc nodes and nodes located in the public internet. The gateway, which provides internet connectivity to Ad-Hoc nodes, is also responsible for QoS signaling interworking and participates in admission control decisions and traffic regulation.
- KonferenzbeitragUse of the ebXML framework in eGovernment and eHealth(Informatik 2005 – Informatik Live! Band 2, 2005) Eijk, Pim van derThe Criminal Justice system in the Netherlands has adopted ebXML Messaging for inter-agency communication and is probably unique in also using ebXML concepts for its business process and content specification part. It uses the UBL Naming and Design rules for XML schema generation and the ebXML BPSS model complex business partner interactions. We discuss motivation for ebMS and alternatives encountered in similar contexts.
