- KonferenzbeitragA virtual laboratory for IT security education(EMISA 2004 – Informationssysteme im E-Business und E-Government, Beiträge des Workshops der GI-Fachgruppe EMISA (Entwicklungsmethoden für Informationssysteme und deren Anwendung), 2004) Hu, Ji; Cordel, Dirk; Meinel, ChristophSuccess of IT security not only depends on the evolution of technologies, but also relies on the knowledge of IT-Personnel and the level of their IT-security education. In order to deliver IT students and professionals hands-on experience of security technologies and tools by electronic means, this paper proposes the concept of a virtual laboratory and discusses its application in practical IT security education. Providing security experience in traditional ways is difficult because it needs dedicated test-bed networks and a lot of administrative efforts, which makes on-site training expensive. The virtual laboratory is an online security laboratory which is built with virtual machines. Virtual machines are software applications which simulate real machines on a host. Equipped with rich security tools and network interfaces, those virtual machines can be assigned to users as laboratory platforms. For that virtual machines are under monitoring and administration, the laboratory can be managed in a reliable way. This makes the running of a virtual laboratory on the Internet possible. Experience within the Tele- Lab “IT-Security” project successfully proves that the concept of virtual laboratories effectively eliminates geographical and financial limitations in traditional IT Security education.

- KonferenzbeitragIntegration of concurrent engineering business processes via service oriented architectures in the virtual enterprise(EMISA 2004 – Informationssysteme im E-Business und E-Government, Beiträge des Workshops der GI-Fachgruppe EMISA (Entwicklungsmethoden für Informationssysteme und deren Anwendung), 2004) Sundmaeker, Harald; Hansen, Scott; Pereira, João L. Serras; Goldstein, James; Lamas de Oliviera, FernandoThe paper will present results of the NETFRAME project (GRD1-2001- 40435): “establishing a documented framework for on-line concurrent engineering and cooperation between large industrial auto and aeronautical companies and its suppliers”. Within the scope of the EU funded GROWTH-project a comprehensive set of methods and tools is developed to support the improvement of the industrial concurrent engineering (CE) process in the virtual enterprise from both sides, industrial auto and aeronautical companies as well as SMEs serving as suppliers to the OEMs. To identify the state-of-the-art and key requirements within the concurrent engineering process an analysis was carried out to clearly outline the business scenario as well as the ICT architectures installed. Based on this, the project summarised the business and technical objectives as well as constraints imposed upon the required technological target architecture to seamlessly support the flow of manufacturing information between the diverse entities in this cooperation scenario. Presented within this paper are the project technological key results supporting this scenario. A technology architecture reference model and an XML model, focusing on tolerance analysis, to support and push the online and serviceoriented architecture based cooperation of OEMs and their suppliers.

- KonferenzbeitragManagement of small construction projects: adding metadata to overcome some electronic messaging limitations(EMISA 2004 – Informationssysteme im E-Business und E-Government, Beiträge des Workshops der GI-Fachgruppe EMISA (Entwicklungsmethoden für Informationssysteme und deren Anwendung), 2004) Otjacques, Benoît; Feltz, FernandThis paper focuses on how the information technologies can improve the management of small construction projects. First, the specific situation of the construction industry is presented. Then, two particular issues are detailed: the role of metadata and the handling of the complete set of information flows that occur during a project. Those problems are not tackled in a satisfying manner by the current e-mail technology. Considering that e-mail is the most commonly used communication tool among the SMEs of the construction industry, it is worth trying to improve this tool to tackle the two above-mentioned issues. The paper describes thus a proof-of-concept prototype that implements some answers to these two questions in the context of small construction projects.
- KonferenzbeitragTemporal aspects in business processes – an application to E-government(EMISA 2004 – Informationssysteme im E-Business und E-Government, Beiträge des Workshops der GI-Fachgruppe EMISA (Entwicklungsmethoden für Informationssysteme und deren Anwendung), 2004) Gehlert, Andreas; Braun, Robert; Esswein, WernerThis paper analyses which temporal aspects need to be recognised in business process modelling. The periodicity and the temporal reference of information objects are discussed in detail. These theoretical considerations are illustrated with examples of the E-Government domain. Furthermore, the findings are implemented into the OMG's Unified Modelling standard to show the significance of the results for the current modelling practice. Because of the systematic analysis our findings can be transferred to other modelling languages and other problem domains.
- KonferenzbeitragA comparison of XML interchange formats for business process modelling(EMISA 2004 – Informationssysteme im E-Business und E-Government, Beiträge des Workshops der GI-Fachgruppe EMISA (Entwicklungsmethoden für Informationssysteme und deren Anwendung), 2004) Mendling, Jan; Neumann, Gustaf; Nüttgens, MarkusThis paper addresses heterogeneity of business process metamodels and related interchange formats. The different approaches towards interchange format design and effects of interchange format specification are presented first. In particular completeness is identified as an important design criterion for interchange formats. Af- terwards the superset of metamodel concepts is extracted from 15 currently available XML-based specifications for business process modelling. Furthermore, these concepts are used as a framework for comparing the completeness of 15 specifications.
- KonferenzbeitragFrom business process fragments to workflow definitions(EMISA 2004 – Informationssysteme im E-Business und E-Government, Beiträge des Workshops der GI-Fachgruppe EMISA (Entwicklungsmethoden für Informationssysteme und deren Anwendung), 2004) Simon, Carlo; Dehnert, JulianeThe use of Workflow Management Systems allows to automate numerous Business Processes within companies. For this, workflow definitions as executable derivates of business process descriptions must be formulated in a formal specification language. For both - the less formal descriptions of business processes and the workflow definitions - Petri net based approaches are widely used and well understood. In this paper, we study the process of deriving workflow definitions from less formal business process descriptions and even fragments of such descriptions and how to satisfy the correctness of these models among each other.
