- ZeitschriftenartikelScheduling-Framework für Jobs auf parallelen Maschinen in komplexen Produktionssystemen(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 46, No. 6, 2004) Mönch, LarsThe paper describes a framework for parallel machine scheduling in complex manufacturing systems. Complex manufacturing systems are characterized by groups of parallel machines, machine dedications, sequence dependent setup times, batch processes, prescribed due dates of the jobs, and a diverse and over time changing product mix. In the present paper, a four-phase algorithm is suggested that covers a broad range of process conditions. The frameworks contains a first phase that deals with the formation of scheduling entities. The second phase is used to assign the scheduling entities to the parallel machines. The sequence of the scheduling entities is determined in the third phase on each single machine. The schedules are improved by the final, optional fourth phase. The paper describes software development issues, the integration of the framework into other information systems on the shopfloor, and the performance assessment of a case study.

- ZeitschriftenartikelSoftwaregestützte Verhandlung in Supply-Chains(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 46, No. 6, 2004) Sucky, EricThis paper focuses on the coordination of order and production policies between buyers and suppliers in supply chains. Order quantities and delivery dates have to be negotiated between the supply chain partners. The results of theses negotiations are strongly influenced by the bargaining power of the parties involved. We present a software tool which supports the supplier’s bargaining process. The software tool can be employed for the generation and evaluation of different offers.

- ZeitschriftenartikelIndividualisierte Finanzdienstleistungsberatung für Privatkunden — Konzept und prototypische Umsetzung(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 46, No. 6, 2004) Buhl, Hans Ulrich; Heinrich, Bernd; Steck, Werner; Winkler, VeronicaThe article describes and discusses requirements as well as the business concept to generate financially optimized and individualized advisory suggestions for private customers in the financial industry. On this basis we presently design business and technical components of an advisory system. Within the research cooperation for situation, individualization and personalization (FORSIP) the system is prototypically implemented in the context of retirement planning. In addition we discuss possibilities for a customer-friendly visualization of investment risk and their technically implementation within the prototype.

- ZeitschriftenartikelUser preference mining techniques for personalized applications(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 46, No. 6, 2004) Holland, Stefan; Kießling, WernerAdvanced personalized e-applications require comprehensive knowledge about their users’ likes and dislikes in order to provide individual product recommendations, personal customer advice, and custom-tailored product offers. In our approach we model such preferences as strict partial orders with “A is better than B” semantics, which has been proven to be very suitable in various e-applications. In this paper we present preference mining techniques for detecting strict partial order preferences in user log data. Real-life e-applications like online shops or financial services usually have large log data sets containing the transactions of their customers. Since the preference miner uses sophisticated SQL operations to execute all data intensive operations on database layer, our algorithms scale well even for such large log data sets. With preference mining personalized e-applications can gain valuable knowledge about their customers’ preferences, which can be applied for personalized product recommendations, individual customer service, or one-to-one marketing.
- ZeitschriftenartikelHeuristische Erlösprognosen für die Bewertung von Geschäftsmodellen im Application Service Providing(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 46, No. 6, 2004) Dechant, Hubert; Stelzer, Dirk; Trost, RalfSeveral problems complicate the assessment of enterprises that cooperate with other firms in developing and distributing bundled goods. Revenue forecasts are particularly challenging. Cooperating suppliers must estimate and model future prices and sales volumes. They have to agree on a ratio of distribution for jointly generated revenues. Furthermore, they must compare different value chain configurations and assess consequences for the distribution of revenues. We propose a heuristic method that helps to forecast revenues for bundled goods. We demonstrate the heuristic method with the example of Application Service Providing.
