Zusammenfassung
The share of logistics in the global production of greenhouse gases (GHGs) is estimated at 14%. Thus it’s worth
investigating how logistic companies can measure greenhouse gases created by their services for customers.
Although the calculation GHGs is base to reduce, avoid and even neutralize those, the GHG reporting is not common
especially in small and medium-sized logistic companies. The interviewed managers of medium-sized logistic
companies considered as barriers for permanent GHG reporting the absence of a binding calculation standard (norm),
the additional staff time required for the calculations and finally the problems of data collection. PreEn 16258:2011
was developed for calculating GHG emissions in logistics. It can be stated that as a first result a standardized GHG
emission calculation is possible - even for small and medium sized enterprises. A standard process is has been
worked out with logistic managers which describes interaction between customers, logistics service providers and a
GHG calculation tool.
