Ein zweistufiges Informationssystem für mathematische Modelle aus den Bereichen Okologie und Umweltschutz wurde eingerichtet, um einen Beitrag zur besseren Verfügbarkeit des Wissens zu leisten. Das „Register of Ecological Models" ist eine, im WWW verfügbare Metadatenbank, die es dem Benutzer ermöglicht für bestimmte Fragestellungen Modelle auszuwählen und ihn zu detaillierten Informationen über diese Modelle führt. ECOBAS ist ein Informationssystem zur Dokumentation der mathematischen Formulierung ökologischer Prozesse. Eine Standardisierung der Dokumentation wird vorgeschlagen, um die Vergleichund Austauschbarkeit der verschiedenen Formulierungen zu verbessern.
A two level information system of mathematical models in ecology and environmental protection is implemented to increase availability and easy access to knowledge in this field. The metadatabase "Register of Ecological Models", available in the Internet (WWW), provides general information about a model and the possibility of navigation. ECOBAS is an information system for documentation of mathematical formulation of ecological processes, which gives detailed information about the mathematics. A standardization of documentation is proposed so that process documentations are mutually comparable and interchangeable.
