Semantische Anreicherung von Umweltverordnungen zur wissensbasierten Operationalisierung
|Although in the field of environmental protection a great number of data keeps being collected it is often for filing only. Meanwhile it is realized that correct evaluation of these data will show many useful correlations. As a result, a Bremen group of scientists is developing an environmental information system with the aim of making this information available to concerned citizens, enterprises, and official authorities. One department of the Bremen Water Branch deals with plants for the treatment of substances representing a hazard to the water supply. This contribution briefly presents the decree issued for the handling of these hazardous substances (VAwS) and its conversion into a hypertext format. This decree as well as further legislation and decrees served as a base for the development of two different ontologies with a view to an ontology-based annotation of www documents. Thus, the selective search for information will be facilitated, and additional knowledge in form of www documents will be made available as well. This method can be employed within the entire Internet, thus making it applicable to many different fields. A critical review with respect to the practicability of this method will conclude this contribution.
