Zusammenfassung
In our rapidly evolving digital age, the documentation of cultural heritage has become its own rich and extensive field of study, with many technologies being developed to aid scientists and researchers in their pursuit of surveying and researching artifacts. This paper aims to give an overview of various 3D scanning technologies, namely photogrammetry, LIDAR, structured light, and computed tomography, which are actively being applied in the field. Through an extensive review of literature, it is attempted to determine the roles and applications of these methods in the documentation of cultural heritage for scientific study, preservation, and restoration purposes. It’s also attempted to
present advantages and limitations of using each of these technologies. The main goal of the paper is to identify the optimal applications of these methods within the realm of cultural heritage, and ultimately to provide the reader with sufficient knowledge to choose the right technology for their specific purposes.
