dc.description.abstractThe lignite mining has extremly changed the environmental situation in the southern sourroundings of Leipzig. Actually there exist a lot of questions and problems of cultivation, flooding and suitable development in the post-mining landscape. Methods of data processing and geographic information systems can decisive support the complex processes of regional and environmental researches. The paper describes the structure and the using of the so named „Informationssystem Sanierungsbergbau Westsachse/Nordthüringen”. In addition to this are given recommendations to develope an environmental monitoring system.de
