The old city of Mosul has a rich architectural heritage. Despite the destruction that war left on the city’s buildings and architecture, benefiting from this architectural and cultural heritage and using it to promote sustainable tourism remains one of the most important solutions for sustainable development. Still, despite this benefit from architectural heritage, tourism faces many challenges, most notably security concerns. The lack of adequate infrastructure for heritage tourism, and the limited access of tourists to the city. Also, there is a lack of information and awareness of the city’s architectural heritage. This study aims to present ideas and proposals to enhance the tourism aspects of old Mosul by taking advantage of the digitization of the architectural heritage and using virtual travel technology to implement virtual travel initiatives in the city. In addition, it mentions the most important challenges facing the application of virtual tours and ways to overcome them.en
