dc.description.abstract | Water quality management strategies on a river basin scale have to consider political , economical, environmental, social, technological, and informational objectives. Applying multi-objective decision making methods to water quality management tasks compromises between ecological and man-made management operations will be obtained. The paper gives an introduction to model based decision support systems (DSS) . The special DSS REHSPROX was used to compute Pareto-optimal solutions of the DO balance of the river Lower Oder. Contradictory ecological and economical goal functions representing different management policies are taken into consideration. Multi-objective optimisation results show small effects of wastewater treatment upon the DO balance but stronger effects on BOD. According to these results optimal cost functions for investments are presented. | de |
