dc.description.abstractConnecting databases to the internet makes their contents widely available. Environmental data can also be reached, and there are many data collections accessible in this area. So it is easy to get confused about where to find and how to interpret relevant data. This paper describes the development of a user interface for heterogenous, distributed environmental data, enabling a comfortable and direct access to different data collections for potential users. A three-tier client server architecture is established, which is based on the open communication infrastructure CORBA and is ready to embed other data collections of related areas. Its search and navigation methods should help even incidental users to retrieve data with minimum effort.de
