The use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for agronomic purposes is traditionally associated with installations of conventional monolithic farm management information systems (FMIS). In these cases all data are stored in a single office computer, which is a bad pre-condition for Cloud Computing as well as low bit rates in many rural regions. Nevertheless there are already good technical and commercial prospects for Software on demand respectively Software as a Service (SaaS). Some new approaches are also available for smaller vendors (e.g. advisers) offering their services piggy-back to related products and structures of larger providers, but to buffer and synchronize spatial data on various mobile devices still remains a major difficulty.de
