dc.description.abstractWe developed a system for real-time rendering of landscapes using VRML and called it ‘VR-Terrain’. The system is a powerful tool for precise recognition of the plan. VR-Terrain on the web was also developed by using CGI and PERL. With the GUI version of VR-Terrain (VRT-GUI), VRML programs of landscapes can be generated very effectively. As an example, landscape of existing residential area was simulated by VRT-GUI. The photographs of the residential area and its simulated images made by VRT-GUI were compared and they agreed well. It will also be possible to make simulated images of the planned future. Visualization by VRML is effective way of showing the concepts of the proposed plan and VR-Terrain is very suitable to make the VRML program of the landscape for the presentation.de
