- KonferenzbeitragAspekte einer perspektivischen Ausrichtung für einen tragfähigen Unternehmensmodellierungsprozess(Software Management 2002: Progress through Constancy, 2002) Wolff, FrankTo manage the evolution of the organisational structure and the IT-systems of an enterprise different kinds of models are used. Key to this paper is the observation that despite the promises and some elaborate approaches to corporate modelling, many organisations fail to implement a stable long-term activity to keep its models current. A number of influences are identified. Very important is the motivation of the involved persons, mostly the modellers and the support of their work. This comprises technical and organisational aspects. Many of the aspects are conflicting factors. After discussing them, a practical example is outlined and explained along the lines of the reasoning in the first chapters.
- KonferenzbeitragEffizientes Systemmanagement durch Standardisierung – Lösungen aus einem hochverfügbaren Systembetrieb(Software Management 2002: Progress through Constancy, 2002) Brummund, NorbertThe paper outlines the automated system management processes and their interactions with a central Configuration Management Database used at IV Mobilfunk, T-Systems. International Standards for "Best Practice" to perform IT Service Management have been successfully implemented in order to offer highavailable IT-resources. The IT for mobile telecommunications needs standardisation in hardware and software to cope with increasing requirements to computing environment but decreasing IT budgets.
- KonferenzbeitragDie Evolution einer Standardarchitektur für betriebliche Informationssysteme – Eine Fallstudie zur Wiederverwendung(Software Management 2002: Progress through Constancy, 2002) Echterhoff, Dirk; Grasmugg, Stefan; Mersch, Daniel; Mönckemeyer, Manfred; Spitta, Thorsten; Wrede, SebastianThe paper outlines the history of a standard architecture for small and medium sized administrative systems. It has been developped 1985 in the Schering AG / Berlin, and applied in several firms over more than 15 years. Some of the about 150 applications, developped and maintained by more than 100 programmers, are still in operation. In 1999 a revision of the architecture and a new implementation in JAVA was started. The latest version is a four-level-architecture for distributed systems with a browser as user interface. Aside architectural considerations we discuss some of our design and implementation experiences with JAVA.
- KonferenzbeitragIntegrationsprojekte auf Basis von EAI-Technologie – Architektur und Entwicklung(Software Management 2002: Progress through Constancy, 2002) Buhrmann, Peter; Richter, Jan-PeterEnterprise application integration is often described as the use of some toolset that enables the rapid integration of legacy, packaged, and new applications into new business solutions and thus providing more flexibility. This paper is based on sd&m experiences in a project to integrate two packaged applications from SAP and Siebel. We present all architectural aspects of the developed solution with the main focus on the technical software architecture. We show that EAI toolsets provide technical software for the integration but error handling, process control and more important business logic has to be built within the project.
- KonferenzbeitragKlärung sozialer Risiken in Softwareentwicklungsprojekten mit Hilfe systematischer Organisationsaufstellungen(Software Management 2002: Progress through Constancy, 2002) Oestereich, BerndSoftware Develop Projects often experience problems or fail due to a variety reasons: a lack of planning, incorrect or insufficient development processes, underqualified staff, inapropriate tools, untried new technologies (i. e. wrong technological decisions) and personal, social and communicative problems between developers, between developers and specific departments, between client and project leader. In the following article I would like to adress the last point and speak about the typical social and psychological phenomena and problems and introduce so called Systemic Organizational Constellations as a psychological analyse and development tool.
- KonferenzbeitragManagement des Testprozesses von Anfang an – Das W-Modell(Software Management 2002: Progress through Constancy, 2002) Spillner, AndreasIn software development, 30 to 40 % of all software activities are testing related. That is why it is critical to launch testing activities at the beginning of the project rather than after the coding is completed. While new software development models such as the Rational Unified Process and eXtreme Programming (XP) continue to be popular with practitioners, the V-model has gained particularly wide acceptance. Based on the V-model, this paper describes a model that shows how the tasks for testing relate to the tasks in the development model. This model – the W-model – further clarifies the priority of the tasks and the dependence between the development and testing activities. Although as simple as the V-model, the W-model makes the importance of testing and the ordering of the individual testing activities clear. It also clarifies that testing and debugging are not the same thing.
- KonferenzbeitragModellierung von Architekturen(Software Management 2002: Progress through Constancy, 2002) Foegen, Malte; Atamaniuk, PatrickThis paper is based on our experience with medium and large software projects. It defines the term "architecture" and shows its relevance in software engineering. In its main part this paper describes the elements of an architecture and defines the work products produced during a software development project in order to model an architecture.
- KonferenzbeitragNeue Wege im Projektmanagement(Software Management 2002: Progress through Constancy, 2002) Frick, AndreasAfter a description of the changes that have taken place in the project environment the current view of project management is outlined from three different perspectives: the computer science perspective, the classical project management perspective and the system science perspective. Later the concept of evolutionary project management and some of the principles on which the concept is based are shown. The consequent application of the concept leads to changes in the classical project management methods. Together with the incremental and iterative development approaches the evolutionary project management approach and further subjects are summarised to build an integrated evolutionary project management approach. Using a practical example the applicability in practice and the advantage of this approach are demonstrated.
