- KonferenzbeitragTrust integration in a coordination assistance tool, application to building construction activity(AIM 2006 – Information Systems and Collaboration: State of the Art and Perspectives (AIM), 2006) Kubicki, Sylvain; Guerriero, Annie; Halin, Gilles; Bignon, Jean-Claude; Hanser, DamienIn the Architecture Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector, cooperation between actors is essential for project success. During the building construction activity, organization is both hierarchical, transversal and adhocratic. Moreover coordination mechanisms are strongly dependant on trust perception by the actors. New assistance tools have to integrate these heterogeneous parameters. The proposition described here consists of the design of a coordination tool providing indicators (about coordination and trust) and also allowing the user to navigate in the cooperative context through multiple views. This proposition is based on a model architecture allowing us to manage cooperative context information and its (multi)visualization.
- KonferenzbeitragService-oriented support of cooperative workflows – considerations for urban planning processes(AIM 2006 – Information Systems and Collaboration: State of the Art and Perspectives (AIM), 2006) Müller, Jochen L.; Zhang, Ge; Lapayre, Jean-Christophe; Müller, PaulWeb-based information sources have evolved to an essential element in our daily and professional life. To process this faster and faster growing amount of information, web portals provide personalized access to specific information and communication services. In this paper, an example from urban planning is given. In this workflow, different actors are interacting in an ad-hoc manner. Therefore, a Portal Architecture has been built up, which provides the relevant information. This paper proposes a Service Orientated Architecture to provide access to business processes, software applications and hardware resources in a workflow oriented way.
- KonferenzbeitragComputer-supported cooperative work - concepts and trends(AIM 2006 – Information Systems and Collaboration: State of the Art and Perspectives (AIM), 2006) Koch, Michael; Gross TomThe research field Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) is concerned with understanding social interaction and the design, development, and evaluation of technical systems supporting social interaction in teams and communities - or in other words it is about researching the use of computer-based technology for supporting collaboration. The field was coined in the 1980th by researchers from computer science, information science and social science. In this paper we will briefly introduce CSCW – its concepts and current trends - and thereby focus on the role of Informatics in the field – from application integration to ubiquitous user interfaces.
- KonferenzbeitragExperimenting with ICT-intensive public and private collaboration projects: the canadian experience(AIM 2006 – Information Systems and Collaboration: State of the Art and Perspectives (AIM), 2006) Préfontaine, L.; Ricard, L.; Sicotte, H.; Skander, D.This research examines nine ICT-intensive and innovative projects involving both public and private sectors in the delivery of public services and attempts to identify their main critical success factors (CSFs). Several respondents from both sectors were interviewed. Results show that political leadership, thorough planning and communication stand out as the first necessary conditions to the success of ICT-intensive public and private collaboration projects, assuring projects the legitimacy, the direction and the implication most needed to attain success. When reflecting on some of the major issues confronting ICT-intensive projects, research results point to political, operational and technological issues such as lack of regulatory framework, deficit of technological expertise in public organizations or problems of integration of numerous governmental information systems. Canada's overall experience with ICT-intensive public and private collaboration projects is still at the experimentation stage.
- KonferenzbeitragAn efficiency evaluation model of EDI in a value added network: the influence of user confidence on risk(AIM 2006 – Information Systems and Collaboration: State of the Art and Perspectives (AIM), 2006) Baile, SergeThe evaluation of the performance of information technology and information systems has, over the past three decades, been the object of numerous studies using a wide range of models. Few of them have focused on the study of efficiency, and even fewer still on the development of a specific research model. This paper helps to fill this gap by making a contribution towards formalizing a specific, original theoretical framework and conceptual model, one based on user confidence in ad hoc EDI technology and the risks associated with its use. The model is tested using data obtained from users of a value added network in the car insurance sector. The results of the data analysis, obtained through a series of principal component analysis methods with a Promax rotation and an Amos structural equation analysis, confirm the existence, on the one hand, of an optimal structure of EDI efficiency evaluation factors, and on the other hand, of the relevance of a data model that establishes a hierarchy aimed at explaining risk.
- KonferenzbeitragUser resistance evolution in IT projects: a longitudinal analysis of a french high-tech SME(AIM 2006 – Information Systems and Collaboration: State of the Art and Perspectives (AIM), 2006) Meissonier, Régis; Belbaly, Nassim; Houzé, EmmanuelThe objective of this article is to present the effects induced by a "passive management style" on conflict situations based on existing theories of user resistance and IT implementation. This article is an advanced work that has been already presented at the 10th AIM conference. The case study of Netia corp a high-tech SME puts forward the evolution of the project and the reactions of the users. This longitudinal research has concerned two "key moments" [Gi95] which switched from an inter-group conflict situation to straightforward individual resistances. This article shows that our results are opposed, in some aspects, to the ones found by Barki et al. [BH01].
- KonferenzbeitragQuality evaluation in information systems outsourcing(AIM 2006 – Information Systems and Collaboration: State of the Art and Perspectives (AIM), 2006) Kalb Roses, Luís; Hoppen, Norberto; Ballaz, Bernard; Melle Freire, KarineThe aim of this study is to assess quality perception of information system (IS) services outsourced by a large Brazilian bank, both from a technical (results) as well as from a functional (process, relationship) dimension. It is used the SERVPERF instrument from the SERVQUAL model, which has its structure assessed. SERVPERF is suitable for service quality evaluation. The results revealed unsatisfactory quality of the services outsourced, the structure of processes directed to the management of the client-supplier relationship is deficient, and the SERVQUAL model's structure requires modifications to improve its applicability to the IT outsourcing context.
- KonferenzbeitragObserving the use of BPM tools: a step towards flexibility(AIM 2006 – Information Systems and Collaboration: State of the Art and Perspectives (AIM), 2006) Heili, Joseph; Heraud, Jean Mathias; France, LaureThe development of the tools of Business Process Management (BPM) arises from the spread of the notion of process in the management universe. The application of BPM to strategic processes is blocked by the tools' rigidity. They have difficulty in handling the processes of which the structure is not clearly defined and/or those for which all information is not available at the beginning. That is why increased flexibility is sought. Having stated needs and works, we propose a new architecture exploiting the distances between prescribed processes and executed processes. On the basis of observation data, a set of techniques enables us to extract some elements which are significant for the designer. Here we present our architecture of exploitation of the observation data and give the results of an experiment aiming at checking the feasibility and the relevance of it. They reveal a real potential for development as well as a series of restrictive elements.
- KonferenzbeitragComposite indexes as metrics of cooperative activity(AIM 2006 – Information Systems and Collaboration: State of the Art and Perspectives (AIM), 2006) Otjacques, Benoît; Noirhomme, Monique; Figueiredo, José; Feltz, FernandThis paper proposes a method based on composite indexes to reflect the level of computer-supported cooperative activity. This approach is innovative in the sense that it extends a purely quantitative approach with some qualitative contextual elements. Indeed, the indexes integrate two basic features of the computer-supported interactions within a group: the number of occurrences and the cooperative nature of the interactions. The paper describes the design of the indexes and shows their interest with simulated cases.
- KonferenzbeitragStakes of collaboration information systems: an analysis of point of view of the marketing managers in France(AIM 2006 – Information Systems and Collaboration: State of the Art and Perspectives (AIM), 2006) Ramarotafika, Lazaniaina LalaOur research aims at demonstrating the role of information system in the field of marketing. It is particularly a question of understanding the stakes of the information systems through its capacity to influence the marketing service of the big companies. With the changes of the environment, the problem of controlling commercial information emerges from both the theoretical and the practical point of views. Facing these problems the concepts of market scanning networks and sharing of information take more and more place in the management of the information system of the company. The conceptualization of this problem research hypothesis makes it possible to note the contribution of information systems in marketing. Therefore, in this study, we want to test if the information systems based on information sharing and networks can influence the commercial performance of the big companies. This method we used is called investigation by questionnaire. The results make it possible for us to identify significant influences of the market scanning and information technologies on the sales performance.
