- Conference Program1st Workshop on Avionics Systems and Software Engineering (AVIOSE'19)(Software Engineering and Software Management 2019, 2019) Annighöfer, Björn; Schweiger, Andreas; Reich, MarinaCompanies are struggling with the complexity of digital avionics systems. Millions of man months are required for the development of digital airborne systems. Moreover, the complexity of functions, the number of vehicles, and systems continuously rises. There is a high demand for more efficient methods and tools of systems and software engineering. The AVIOSE workshop establishes a new forum for the exchange for the people working on simplifying, shortening, and maturing the creation of avionics systems.
- KonferenzbeitragIT-supported Hospital Discharge Management – Findings of a Multi-Method Research Design(INFORMATIK 2019: 50 Jahre Gesellschaft für Informatik – Informatik für Gesellschaft, 2019) Kortekamp, Sarah-Sabrina; Süßmuth, Maria Carmen Isabel; Hildner, Andrea; Ickerott, Ingmar; Teuteberg, FrankA structured hospital discharge management process can lead to a smoother transition to aftercare. In practice, providing continuity of nursing care after a stationary hospital stay is accompanied by numerous challenges. The presented study aims to point out the use cases and requirements for an IT system supporting the diverse tasks of the participating actors. Within the scope of a multi-method research design, the authors conducted and analysed stakeholder interviews, a shadowing, a systematic literature search and statutes in order to gain the presented results. This publication presents 37 requirements, grouped to 14 use cases. A process model in BPMN visualises the discharge management process. Further, the authors derived implications for practice and research. These can be used for the development, classification and assessment of IT systems. Therefore, this publication provides a significant contribution to the development of socio-technical systems within the health care domain.
- KonferenzbeitragProfessionalisation in ERP Selection Revisited II(Software Engineering 2022 Workshops, 2022) Humpl, StefanThe implementation of new ERP systems or the adaptation of existing ERP systems is a central challenge for modern companies, which is also reflected in the development of relevant job advertisements. A specific analysis of relevant job advertisements in Austria shows a professionalisation in ERP selection, but also a shift towards employing such experts in the own company versus outsourcing this expertise. Job titles and job specific requirements (competences) mentioned in job advertisements in 2017 and 2021 show a respective development. But it also becomes visible that the labour market for relevant experts is marked by a growing demand and insufficient supply, which implies that the more recent job advertisements are broader, more detailed in asking for competences, and therefore showing a hope for somehow fitting candidates.

A specific analysis of relevant job advertisements in Austria shows a professionalisation in ERP selection, but also a shift towards employing such experts in the own company versus outsourcing this expertise. The COVID-19 crisis led to an increased in-house recruiting, which is turning back to a mixed in-house and external recruiting approach after COVID-19 in 2022.
- WorkshopReport from the REFrame 2/2023 Workshop: REFraming Elicitation(Softwaretechnik-Trends Band 44, Heft 2, 2024) Wohlgemuth, Andrea; Herrmann, Andrea; Birk, AndreasThe REFrame workshop “REFraming Elicitation” brought together a broad spectrum of experts interested in requirements elicitation, both in terms of practical experience and terms of scientific findings. It focused particularly on methodological frameworks in the context of elicitation: How have frameworks evolved over time? What are the current needs for guidance? What are important challenges and relevant experiences? The workshop included peer-reviewed paper submissions, invited talks, and interactive discussion sessions.
- KonferenzbeitragRequirements for a Decision Support System for Managing Complexity of Multidimensional IT Project Assessments in the Context of IT Portfolio Management(Projektmanagement und Vorgehensmodelle 2023 - Nachhaltige IT-Projekte, 2023) Abbing, Julian; Linssen, OliverMany companies evaluate their IT projects primarily according to financial decision criteria. The subsequent IT project selection for the IT portfolio is additionally influenced by political factors, various (partially unclear) standards, and questionable evaluation methods. There is a risk of misinvestment in IT projects that do not fit the company's strategy and accordingly lead to misallocation of resources. To solve this problem, this study will develop requirements for a decision support system that will enable a systematic, comprehensive, and transparent decision-making process for selecting suitable IT projects.
- KonferenzbeitragSharing and Exploiting Requirement Decisions(Softwaretechnik-Trends Band 40, Heft 1, 2020) Kleebaum, Anja; Johanssen, Jan Ole; Paech, Barbara; Bruegge, BerndContinuous software engineering is an agile development process that puts particular emphasis on the incremental implementation of requirements and their rapid validation through user feedback. This involves frequent and incremental decision making, which needs to be shared within the team. Requirements engineers and developers have to share their decision knowledge since the decisions made are particularly important for future requirements. It has been a vision for long that important decision knowledge gets documented and shared. However, several reasons hinder requirements engineers and developers from doing this, for example, the intrusiveness and overhead of the documentation. With ConDec, we develop tool support for the continuous management of decision knowledge that uses techniques for natural language processing and integrates into tools that developers often use, for example, into the issue tracking system Jira. In this work, we focus on how ConDec enables requirements engineers and developers to share and exploit decision knowledge regarding requirements. We evaluate ConDec in student projects and develop techniques to teach decision knowledge management.
- KonferenzbeitragTool-Supported Experiments for Continuously Collecting Data of Subjective Video Quality Assessments During Video Playback(Softwaretechnik-Trends Band 40, Heft 1, 2020) Karras, Oliver; Klünder, Jil; Schneider, KurtIn our research project ViViReq, we aspire to research what constitutes a good video in the context of requirements communication. As part of our research plan, we develop a quality model for videos to define and evaluate the quality of videos as RE artifacts. In addition to evaluating videos, this quality model can be used by software professionals as guidance for producing and using videos. Based on our quality model, we want to analyze how specific implementations of single video characteristics, e.g., pleasure, exactly affect the viewers’ quality assessment. In this research preview, we propose to support the conduct of experiments for subjective video quality assessments with a software tool which allows continuously collecting the assessment data for generic video characteristics during video playback. The proposed solution consists of five key concepts which are briefly explained in this article.
- KonferenzbeitragTrustworthy Data Exchange: Leveraging Linked Data for Enhanced IDS Certification(INFORMATIK 2024, 2024) Hackel, Sascha; Makohl, Marie-Elisabeth; Petrac, SimonIn today’s data-driven business environments, ensuring secure and controlled data sharing is essential. However, existing solutions often lack mechanisms to maintain data sovereignty and establish trust among ecosystem participants. This paper presents a novel approach to the establishment of International Data Spaces (IDS) certification, focusing on the use of a formal information model and Linked Data. The proposed certification framework leverages the formal information model to define the structure and semantics of the certification process. It enables machine-recognizable data representations, ensuring interoperability and facilitating automated processing of certification information. Using Linked Data principles, the framework provides an exact description of system capabilities and requirements. This increases transparency and facilitates more reliable and trustworthy data exchange within IDS.
