- KonferenzbeitragAn access control service for dynamic and hierarchical resources: Declarative model and implementation on top of XACML(Information systems technology and its applications, 3rd international conference ISTA'2004, 2004) Psaila, Giuseppe; Biondi, FulvioThe increasing complexity of (distributed) information systems requires new solutions for dealing with access control problems. In particular, information systems are based on a large number of resources, with very complex structure, that must be accessed by a large variety of users. Traditional and instance based solutions are not adequate. In this paper, we propose a new approach to the problem. First of all, we define an access control model which is declarative, modular, hierarchical and instance independent, so that it is suitable for highly dynamic contexts. Then, we reports about the implementation of a Profile Service, which effectively exploits the XACML technology to simplify and shorten the development.
- KonferenzbeitragAnalytical data modeling of investment project financing process(Information systems technology and its applications – 6th international conference – ISTA 2007, 2007) Godlevskiy, Mikhail D.; Moskalenko, Valentina V.; Kondrashchenko, Vladimir V.The present work is devoted to the research of investment projects’ financing issues. Within this paper a data analytical tool for an optimal financing schema computation on the basis of solving the multicriterion dynamical problem is being presented. The model reflects the interests of both company and investor receiving maximum profit from the project execution as well as selection of a priority source of financing on the basis of capital cost minimization principle. We have developed the software on Java in order to perform an automated computation of an optimal financing schema using the suggested algorithm. The developed software is a complete solution for working with project data, obtaining the results (in the text and chart views) and generating reports.
- KonferenzbeitragApplication of Java-technologies for simulation in the web(Information Systems Technology and its Applications, international conference ISTA'2001, 2001) Kazymyr, Volodymyr; Demshevska, NataliyaIn this article, the visual Internet-oriented Java-based E-net Simulation System (JESS) is considered. JESS supports all the simulation stages from constructing the models to experimenting with them. The basis of JESS is an object-oriented formal model and a specification language that supports several levels of model description with an E-net specification. The Internet-orientation of the system allows to create models executed on a remote server and makes these models available from any point of the network. This article contains descriptions of the JESS simulation technique and the implementation of its Internet properties.
- KonferenzbeitragApplication service provisioning - Current state and partnership strategies(Information Systems Technology and its Applications, international conference ISTA'2001, 2001) Kallio, PäiviThe European Application Service Provisioning (ASP) market is estimated to grow to USD 8.2 billion in 2003. Application Service Providers are companies that provision software applications over the Internet. The ASP will change traditional software businesses by turning software applications from products to services. This study researched the state of the current software business, ASP and the ability of Finnish software companies to gain partners in the international ASP competition based on the situation in November 2000. The current state of ASP business was examined by researching literature and four Finnish software companies that make use or are going to make use of ASP in the future. Because the concept of ASP is new, the amount of previous researches concerning ASP is very limited. The current state of software companies in this research is based on a study made by Forsell and Nukari in 1999 and on an international research of 100 software firms made by Harvard Business School in 1999. In this research it was found out that Finnish ASPs seek value added service and technology partners on the basis of their quality and trustworthiness. The partners co-operate in marketing, support and research. The current ASP market is fast changing, fast growing, immature and uncertain, but the faith in it is very strong. Finnish companies regard finding competent partners difficult because of the still immature market. Technology and security do not prevent the widespread use of ASP. The keys to success in the ASP market are co-operation with qualified partners, specializing in existing strengths, and qualitative and secure software products.
- KonferenzbeitragApplying web service compositions in systems management(Information systems technology and its applications, 3rd international conference ISTA'2004, 2004) Karastoyanova, DimkaSystems management in any organization depends exclusively on the efforts of a system administrator. Every change in the IT infrastructure landscape requires changes in the systems configuration settings. We propose the use of enterprise registries for addressing the automation of systems configuration. Registries provide global view on the whole IT infrastructure of an enterprise, store a complete configuration data and maintain consistent record of systems state. The role of a registry in the automation of reconfiguration activities in an enterprise can either be passive - with the registry being only a data store for configuration data, or an active one. We view the active approach much more suitable for facilitating automatic system management. Active registries serve not only for data keeping but also command and perform reconfiguration directly onto the enterprise systems. To facilitate the seamless interaction between registry and all systems we propose to extend them with Web service capabilities. To define and perform all the complex sequences of tasks according to the configuration rules defined in a registry we advocate the use of Web Service compositions. We call these process-based Web services “systems management rules”. Furthermore, the development of systems management rules can be automated by using Web Service Flows templates.
- KonferenzbeitragAn approach to advanced data synchronization in complex process control systems(Information systems technology and its applications, 3rd international conference ISTA'2004, 2004) Kuklenko, D.; Gamzayev, R.; Goloborodko, V.; Tkachuk, M.Nowadays for any kind of distributed and multi-level, i.e. complex information systems it is vitally important to represent its data resources in a homogenized form. This paper presents our approach to data synchronization (DS) in complex Process Control Systems (PCS) designed with respect to our real project experience in the domain of PCS for gas-production industry in Ukraine. DS is considered as a stage of more sophisticated approach to data processing called In- telligent Data Engineering (IDE). The IDE framework and some of its modeling aspects are shortly described. The algorithm used at the DS stage for transferring process data between the levels of distributed PCS in XML-format is proposed and implemented. In order to estimate a system performance in a DS publisher node the metrical-based modeling is introduced in our approach.
- KonferenzbeitragAn approach to dynamic ontology modification in mediator service-oriented information systems(Information Systems Technology and its Applications, international conference ISTA'2001, 2001) Keberle, Natalya; Ermolayev, VadimThe paper proposes the approach to cope with the maintenance of dynamically changing resource ontologies of autonomously maintained, distributed, heterogeneous, wrapped information resources and their mappings to common mediator IS ontology. The approach intends to do the work in economical way reducing efforts to matching and aligning only modified ontology elements. Proposed is ontology model comprising both descriptive part and the set of modification primitives for each ontology structural element. The set of ontology modification invariants and the corresponding set of modification conflicts resolution rules are formulated for taxonomies. The way to provide IS services for ontology changes monitoring, matching and alignment is outlined.
- KonferenzbeitragAn approach to knowledge-based data handling in complex process(Information systems technology and its applications, ISTA' 2005, 2005) Gamzayev, R.; Kuklenko, D.; Tkachuk, M.This paper presents an approach for knowledge-based data handling in complex Process Control Systems (PCS). Special attention is paid to the specific situations taking place in the technical processes, which run under control of such PCSs. To describe those specific situations we use the concept of Active Rule (AcR). The considered PCSs operate in the real-time mode. Because of this, handling a big number of active rules may cause violations of some real-time constraints. We propose an approach of Association Rules (AsR) in order to eliminate those problems. The collection of AsR is mined from the data describing the specific situations of processes. Those data are collected in PCS as a result of executing appropriate AcR. We elaborate a collection of modification patterns for simplifying the structure of existing AcR, and the general scheme for the interaction between AcR and AsR. The results presented in the paper are based on real-life projects that we performed in the domain of Web-based PCSs for Ukrainian gas-and-oil production enterprises.
- KonferenzbeitragAspectual predesign: extending KCPM to map non-functional requirements(Information systems technology and its applications, ISTA' 2005, 2005) Shekhovtsov, Vladimir A.; Kostanyan, Arkady V.This paper presents an extension of the Klagenfurt Conceptual Predesign Model (KCPM) allowing taking into account the non-functional requirements to the system. These requirements are treated as crosscutting concerns. This process could be also seen as an addition to the AOSD paradigm that brings the gap between the Aspect-Oriented Requirement Engineering and Aspect-Oriented Modeling. The extensions of the KCPM schema and the new mapping rules are introduced for the case of asymmetric AOSD approach.
- KonferenzbeitragAutomated Coding of Qualitative Interviews with Latent Semantic Analysis(Information systems technology and its applications – 6th international conference – ISTA 2007, 2007) Feinerer, Ingo; Wild, FridolinCoding and analysing qualitative interviews is one of several core techniques used in marketing research. Qualitative methods offer valuable information hardly gained by standard quantitative methods since open-ended questions and interviews provide deeper insight into customer demands. The main disadvantages of qualitative methods are their inherent subjectivity and their high costs. We tackle this problem by applying latent semantic analysis (LSA) in a fully automated way on transcripts of interviews and we propose two algorithms based on LSA. We evaluate the algorithms against two separate real-life cases taken from the automobile industry and from the Austrian mobile phone market. Thereby, we compare the machine results against marketing expert judgements and show that the algorithms proposed provide perfect reliability with appropriate validity in automated coding and textual analysis.
