Developing a future state design for any enterprise component is a crucial step in the enterprise management lifecycle. Traditional approaches rely heavily on business stakeholder participation and input. Several problems are identified with this approach which may contribute to poor design decisions. This paper introduces two EA Management patterns which aim to incorporate both stakeholder requirements and design principles to promote elegant future state designs. The paper includes a means for both documenting and assessing the application of design patterns, a description of the patterns of good design, and a method for applying these to a future state.
