Doktorandensymposium), 2010) Wonnemann, ClausThe paper proposes an approach for compliance audits in workflow environments based on the tracking of information flow. Requirements are formalized as a binary relation on the workflow principals. The workflows' execution logs are transferred into graph-based representations of the explicit information flows (dataflows) and adherence to compliance requirements is checked while traversing these graphs. The scope and limits are discussed and the major milestones for further work are outlined.

Doktorandensymposium), 2010) Quast, Marc; Favre, Jean-MarieThe development and usage of complex information systems leads to both technical and human challenges as large numbers of stakeholders with conflicting requirements are involved. Though global consistency must be preserved at the corporate level, software applications have to be adapted to particular needs. However, while individual users have the best knowledge about how to perform their job, they have little influence on the corporate information system. Our experience in industry shows that the “Knowledge/Influence Mismatch” leads to the “Information System Fragmentation” problem: departments, teams or individuals unsatisfied by corporate information systems tend to develop “parallel” ad-hoc applications. To cope with this problem this paper proposes core concepts for Social Information Systems in which much more power will be given to user communities, allowing them to extend existing applications for their particular needs, but also to share these extensions with colleagues; and this in a social way. This approach, based on the notion of “perspectives” linked to people, opens the possibility of a social adaptation and democratic evolution of the information system.

Doktorandensymposium), 2010) Felfernig, A.; Schubert, M.; Mandl, M.; Ghirardini, P.Requirements specification is often performed by stakeholders who are organizationally and geographically distributed. In these scenarios preferences regarding requirements can become inconsistent and stakeholders need assistance in identifying reasonable tradeoffs. In this paper we introduce a basic approach that actively supports distributed groups of stakeholders in the specification of consistent requirement preferences. The approach automatically detects minimal sets of preferences that have to be adapted in order to restore global consistency in the given collection of preferences. This approach can be seen as a core technology of requirements management processes in (distributed) software projects.

In this area, workflows are an essential instrument for managing complex simulations cascades. The aim of the MoSGrid project is an easy to use Grid integration of such workflows based on a portal that covers the complexity. This paper presents an initial general description of workflows for molecular science and details the result based on two examples for the integration of Gaussian and Gromacs.

Das Hauptinteresse richtet sich daher auf die Untersuchung von Rahmenbedingungen in diesem Gegenstandsbereich. Die Einflussgrößen auf der Entwicklerseite des Informationssystems und den daraus ableitbaren Verallgemeinerungen für die Konzeption eines solchen Systems fließen ebenfalls in die Betrachtung ein.

Doktorandensymposium), 2010) Gringel, Philipp; Postina, MatthiasPatterns are an effective way to express solutions to constantly occurring problems in software engineering. Books like Erich Gamma's Design Patterns ([Gam94]) or Martin Fowler's Analysis Pattern ([Fow96]) helped to develop a common understanding of problem solving in this field. The pattern catalog developed by members of the chair Software Engineering for Business Information Systems (sebis) of TU-Munich ([BELM08]) addresses patterns related to reoccurring problems in enterprise architecture management (EAM) and the authors are still working on this catalog. [BELM08] mentions several concerns related to SOA but is missing patterns concerning the initiation of SOA. This contribution will elaborate on an I-Pattern related to SOA-initiation on the basis of [EHH+08]. The focus lies on the problem of gap analysis on application landscapes as stated in [PSS09] and will further add metrics for gap analysis to this I-Pattern.

Doktorandensymposium), 2010) Ernst, Alexander M.; Schneider, Alexander W.Managing the enterprise architecture (EA) is a major challenge of every larger modern enterprise. Aligning business and IT in order to optimize their interaction is the main goal of EA management. The first step of an EA management approach typically is to analyze and document the as-is-situation. Subsequently, the second step has to be the management of the EA evolution in order to achieve the desired target EA. Although IT projects guide this evolution by implementing the transformations from a current to an envisioned architecture, they are considered sparsely by EA approaches. Therefore, this article presents a methodology pattern (M-Pattern) describing a process including all necessary tasks and associated roles, which help to cope with the challenge of EA evolution management.

We give recommendations how to address the discovered gaps in support for scientific applications. The approach we follow addresses the requirements of scientists and scientific applications, which we also identify in this work.
